The old kitchen in our 1925 bungalow was extremely dated. My goal with this project was to freshen up the space on an extremely tight budget of $1000. That was my cap on all project with this home, seeing we were actively saving up remodel of this one (which turned into a scrape).
The cabinet doors and drawer fronts were all made of poplar with 1/4" MDF inserts. The countertops were granite looking laminate with an oak application on edges. I added a much larger and more functional sink basin as part of the renovation. My in-laws spent a day helping me install the slate backsplash and painting.
Once the primary kitchen was complete, I spent another $250 to build a standalone cabinet (not in picture) that would be home to the microwave and serve the role of our pantry.
